Memorial Day Weekend Demonstrations

May 23 and 24, 2009

It's become an annual rite each year as a group of regional fiber artsts gather at the Lost River Artisans Cooperative to spin (and weave) their way into the summer season.

With the popularity of the event, more activities have been added to the festivities, including art projects for children, live music, and the presentation of the Jim Leiss award for unwavering support and service to the Lost River Artisans Cooperative.

The Valley's own Dave Gant (center) and the Deer Spring Band performed bluegrass during the afternoon.
Longtime member Bill Powell was presented with the James E. "Jim" Leiss Award, which recognizes unwavering support and service to the cooperative. Bill has headed the maintenance committee for the cooperative for many years, taking care of a wealth of tasks, large and small. Bill is also a integral part of the museum's operation, assisting with and coordinating exhibit displays, and serving as a museum guide. Thank you, Bill, for all that you do!
