Basket-weaving Class

Conducted by Guest Artisan Debbi Zvanut
June 18 and 19, 2011

Guest artisan Debbi Zvanut taught two classes over a weekend at LRAC -- one for a Choctaw Basket, and the other for a Williamsburg Market Basket.

Materials are organized for the Choctaw Basket class.

Debbi shows the pattern necessary to construct the basket's design.

Nancy Huston shows off her progress on a Choctaw Basket.

Here, Nancy is nearly done with the body of the basket.
Clothespins hold the shape as the students begin to construct the
finished rim of the basket.

The next day, students begin the process of assembling a Williamsburg Market Basket.

A student carefully weaves the reeds in the correct pattern.

Debbi assists a student with the spacing of the reeds.

The body of this basket is nearly finished.

Jean Flanagan shows off her completed basket.
