Basket-weaving Class
Conducted by Guest Artisan Debbi Zvanut
October 2010
Guest artisan Debbi Zvanut returned to the cooperative in 2010 and taught a basket-weaving class sponsored by the Lost River Educational Foundation. The foundation operates the Lost River Museum on the lower level of the Harper Barn. |

Debbi uses a completed basket to illustrate for a student
the beginning steps of constructing the basket's bottom.
|

Reed soaks in plastic tubs. These pieces will form the bottom
of the baskets
and provide structure for the finished piece.
|

Debbi assists a student with the beginning of her basket.
|

The bottom is clearly taking shape here, with spokes radiating from the center.
|

Pieces of reed splay like oversized spiders as students work on their projects.
|

Clothespins are used to hold pieces in place as the
thinner reed is wound in and around the spokes.
