Becky Karas - Fine Jewelry, Photography and Fiber Art

An example of one of
Becky's arresting photographs.

As a jewelry designer, Becky utilizes
precious and semi-precious stones,
as well as pearls, and other design components.

Becky is also a skilled fiber
designer and has created a line
of figurines she calls "Spirit Dolls."

Biography: Becky was born in rural Minnesota in the bitter cold of a February winter. She attended college in Madison, Wisconsin, majoring in engineering, where she met her husband, Greg. After college, she worked in Illinois and Pennsylvania, before moving to Virginia, where she currently lives.

As a child, Becky was fascinated with photography, and taught herself how to photograph, print, mat and frame. Later, she discovered a similar love for jewelry-making and the fiber arts.

Becky draws much of her inspiration from her travels around the world. She has been to many countries in Africa, South and Central America, Europe and Asia. She frequently brings home not only photographs from these diverse regions, but also precious and semi-precious gemstones, pearls and other components that she fashions her jewelry with.

All of her photography is printed with archival pigment-based inks on archival papers. For her jewelry-making, she prefers to work with natural materials, and has several lines of jewelry for every budget. She can also take custom orders for special occasions, wedding parties, or to suit individual tastes. Some examples of her work available for purchase can be found in the LRAC's E-Store.

Becky is a member of several Virginia arts councils and has exhibited in numerous juried shows. She has been a member of LRAC since 2007.
